Everybody is organizing lists for their New Year’s resolutions. We organize a few ideas about what we want to accomplish in order to better ourselves. We want to get more active, get fit, and get a few more things done. Of course, these lists aren’t much unless you get them done. You can write and think about how much you need to shed a few pounds, but unless you get out there and get after those goals, you aren’t going to accomplish anything.

What we need to do is get ourselves prepared to take on that list of resolutions. We need to get those goals in sight and have the confidence to carry them out.

Since nothing changes until something first moves, you need to move. Start by organizing yourself and scheduling out a few smaller goals that lead to your main goal. When it comes tofitness, if you push yourself too fast too hard, you’ll burn out. If you want to accomplish your goal, get a ladder and climb up safely and steadily.

A little confidence goes a long way

Your confidence is the next step, and without it, you won’t have the right feel that you need to get the job done. Not everyone can walk into a fitness center and feel great about themselves (possibly one of the many reasons we go in the first place). So you need to build yourself up. Constantly reinforce yourself, and don’t pay any mind to what others “might” think. You have one person to please in this world, and that’s you.

Constantly remind yourself of your goals, and more importantly- tell yourself that you can get them done. We see the goal, but if we don’t think we can get to the finish line, we never will. We stare into the bleak distance, wondering if we should even start. Don’t only think you can do it, know you can do it. That is confidence. When you have confidence in yourself, you can do anything you put your mind to.

Live life

Although we need to focus on our goals, we still need to enjoy life. Little things, big things- all things, enjoy everything. Life is what we live for, and if we pass up enjoying it, life loses value. This next year, amongst your goals, list these simple words: I want to be happy. John Lennon had a good point here, and it goes a long way in helping us achieve our goals. Each of us enjoys different things in life, but we need to take the time to experience them.

Instead of making your goals seem like tasks, find ways to make them fun. Fitness centers like Drenched Fitness strive towards making your workout enjoyable. The place, people, and experience are there to not only help you achieve your goal, but enjoy the experience. Keep your goals fun for you to do, and you’ll want to do them. And if you want to do them, it’ll be that much easier to keep going once you’ve started.

Be grateful

Saying “thank you” is how we let ourselves and others know we’re grateful for something. Ebenezer Scrooge accomplished little more than counting his money until he learned to be thankful for what was there and what life was about. If we’re going to enjoy life, we have to be thankful for what we have and what we’re capable of accomplishing.

This means that to enjoy the opportunities in life, we have to be thankful to have them. When we’re happy, we accomplish more than just a goal, we accomplish life. If our goal is to get fit, ask yourself why this is your goal. Is it to better yourself, or is it going to make you happy? The answer is- by bettering yourself, you make yourself happy.

Being grateful helps focus your mind in a positive way. You see things more clearly, and you enjoy things more. Though it does not directly accomplish goals, it guides us toward them. Be grateful that you have these opportunities, and you’ll be more inclined to take advantage of them.

Goals are more than simple words on a to-do list. They’re steps on a ladder to a better life. Working your way into a fit lifestyle takes more than signing up and attending a few classes. If you’re to get at your goals, you have to have the confidence to achieve your goals, the desire to be happy, and the gratitude to appreciate the chance to better yourself this upcoming year.
